This recipe is super versatile, use in burgers, salads, wraps or even as a side with dipping sauce.šŸ˜‹ Seitan is similar to chicken, but has a much lower carbon footprint, so you can take climate action with every delicious bite! šŸ¤©


You can find the key ingredient, vital wheat gluten at your local bulk foods store. Keep an eye out because it might be called gluten flour. šŸŒ±


***Simply Sensation Seitan***


Ingredients:


šŸŒ±3/4 cups vital wheat gluten (also called gluten flour)

šŸŒ±1/4 cup all purpose flourĀ 

šŸŒ±1 tsp vegetable broth

šŸŒ±3/4 tsp onion powderĀ 

šŸŒ±3/4 tsp garlic powderĀ 

šŸŒ±1/4 tsp salt

šŸŒ±2/3 cup waterĀ 

šŸŒ±1 tbsp oilĀ 


Method:


šŸŒ± Fill a pot with an inch or two of water and bring it to a light boil with a steamer basket.

šŸŒ± In a medium bowl, combine wheat gluten, flour, vegetable broth powder, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and water to form a dough.

šŸŒ± Lightly grease the steamer basket.

šŸŒ± Tear off bite-sized pieces of the seitan dough and arrange them in a single layer in the steamer basket.

šŸŒ± Cover and steam for 10 minutes.

šŸŒ± Heat oil in a pan and fry the steamed seitan pieces

šŸŒ±Add your preferred sauce or spices. For this burger Lilli used BBQ sauce and Ā½ tsp liquid smoke to coat the seitan.

šŸŒ±Serve on burgers, wraps, salads or as a side.
