Welcome back to our Zero Food Waste Series, where we share how you can save your dollars and the planet! 🌎

Let's create Educator Ella’s quick, easy, and refreshing ginger ale!🍹 This eco-friendly recipe will make the most of the entire ginger root and lemon.🫚 Plus, ginger packs a powerful punch with numerous health benefits like improving digestion and reducing inflammation.💪🏾

Ingredients:

🌱2 inches of ginger root

🌱4 cups of water

🌱1 lemon, zested and juiced

🌱3 Tbsp maple syrup

🌱Sparkling water  ~ we love soda stream but alternatively sustainably sourced and carbon neutral Sanpellegrino

Methods:

🌱Grate 2 inches of clean ginger root, with peel, into a pan.

🌱Add 4 cups of water, bring to a boil. Simmer for 20 minutes.

🌱Remove from heat, add zest and juice from one lemon.

🌱Strain out ginger pulp and lemon zest. Save for homemade veggie broth, smoothies, tea, sauces… etc!

🌱Add maple syrup and stir.

🌱To enjoy add ice and fill your glass with ½ ginger mixture and ½ sparkling water.

🌱Keep leftover ginger mixture in an airtight container for up to a week.

Enjoy!!😋
