5 MUST-VISIT VEG-FRIENDLY PLACES IN KELOWNA
Written By: Ally Steele It already feels like summer in the Okanagan and what a perfect time to explore some veg-friendly restaurants and markets. Whether you’re new to the Kelowna area or just always on the lookout for some fun finds, here are some Okanagan staples that are plant-powered and planet-friendly!
Naked Café This family-friendly café is the original plant-based eatery of Kelowna! With ever-changing menus, they are bound to carry something that tickles your fancy: from soups, burgers, bowls, sandwiches and so much more. If you want to get takeaway, try downloading their Naked Café app for those loyalty points. Plus, they’ll have your order wrapped up and ready to go for pick up. Pro tip: beach picnics are always a great idea with or without the sun! They boost a fun, energetic family-friendly feel. Their entire menu can be made plant-based and is a great place to check out to see what you like. Their menu ranges from brunch and lunch to vegan-friendly sushi night or amazing bowls only your heart can dream up. We recommend trying their ramen or pasta. Yum! Salty Caramel Kitchen https://instagram.fyvr3-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t51.2885-15/154799144_178291633822704_5073495989841116280_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_e35&_nc_ht=instagram.fyvr3-1.fna.fbcdn.net&_nc_cat=100&_nc_ohc=5-mJHiEvGMgAX9f7wKJ&edm=AABBvjUBAAAA&ccb=7-4&ig_cache_key=MjUxODc3NjQ0Mzk5NjM2OTUyMQ%3D%3D.2-ccb7-4&oh=00_AT-w96oTear31pUeAmB1jnusOOB5KVTXNeHmYh_f5NmOtw&oe=622363D8&_nc_sid=83d603 Specializing in breakfast, lunch, and sweet treats, Salty Caramel Kitchen is truly a gem. They’re based out of Lake Country but deliver their baked goods all over town. Their café right near the water in Lake Country makes a perfect spot for a bite to eat after a dip in the lake. I recommend their vegan cinnamon bun, it’s the best I’ve ever had! Fork Plant Based Market This vegan marketplace opened just a few months ago, but did they come out swinging! Find recent trending plant-based food items, some local products, and really any pantry or frozen food you might need without having to pine through the grocery store. Their take-out counter has everything from sweets, stuffed cookies (yeah you heard that right, stuffed!), wraps and my favourite—loaded perogies. Finding vegan perogies isn’t easy and the fact that I can just roll up and get some perogies to go blows my mind. They make some of THE BEST perogies I have ever had, and they switch up the flavours often!
